The Power of Intention
June 18, 2008
Yesterday, I spoke to a business networking group named BrainStorm Weekly, about the power of business credit. After my talk, I took part in the brainstorming and realized something very powerful.
Isn’t it funny how we know to do certain things in life to get the most out of it? Meditate, read, plan, exercise, follow-up,etc. But for some reason we use the excuse that we don’t have time or that we are so overwhelmed that we simply forgot.
Well yesterday was one of those “duh” or “aha” moments. We were discussing body language and posturing when my good friend Steven Klein, brought up intentions. He said we should always state our intention before any situation we enter. Tell the universe and perhaps the other person what we expect to get out of our interaction.
So if you are giving a speech, going into a meeting, or even driving your car, state what it is that you want to get by the end of it. Sounds simple enough, huh?
It is. The challenge is practicing! This is like anything we do. We have to build our muscle so that we are doing this before every situation without even thinking about it!
So this week (and from here on forward), I’ll be hitting the “Power of Intention Gym” and working out my muscles!
How about you?
