AJ Puedan & Grand Master Ray Dionaldo

June 30, 2008

One of my mentor’s AJ Puedan who I’ve talked about a few times is teaming up with Grand Master Ray Dionaldo this Wednesday for an incredible demonstration (more on that in a moment). Watch this crazy movie clip…

AJ and Grand Master Ray Dionaldo hold self development seminars a handful of times a year which I can’t wait to attend. But don’t just chalk them up as some self development gurus. These guys make it fun, interactive and incredibly powerful.

You can find more info on AJ at http://www.SuccessCoachTechnologies.com

For those that are in the Tampa Bay Area (or even Florida), I will be supporting my good friend Chris Krimitsos at the Wealth Building Academy. If you’d like to join us, just print this page and bring it with you.

The Other Side of the Law of Attraction

June 27, 2008

Yesterday, I had a conversation with Greg Mooers, who is the creator of LifeCamp and also a former monk.  He studied the lives of heroes, self actualization, self development and a whole bunch of other areas on the way to enlightenment.

Now, he helps people discover what their “Heart Virtue” or what they were meant to do in life.

While I was driving, a thought popped into my head about the Law of Attraction.  I thought, “What about all the negative stuff that shows up our lives?  Do we attract this?”

So I called Greg up and asked him what his take was on this.

Here’s what he said, “Yes, the law of attraction is in full effect.  We attract everything.”

And before I could interrupt him he said, “Consider that in order to be the best “you” that you can be, that you have to go through certain things to make you the better you.”

So then I said, “For me, that’s kinda been like speaking.  I’ve gone through some ups and downs.  But in order to be the best speaker I can be, I’ve got to experience certain things.”

(And it has been one heck of an experience!)

Greg’s response, “Exactly.”

So when that cloud of negativity seems looming, keep in mind that a lesson is to be learned on the horizon!

Have a bodacious weekend!  You deserve it!

Horrible Marketing Perfected

June 26, 2008

It all started yesterday…I was driving home from the office when I noticed a bandit sign (those signs on the side of the road).  It read “FREE Foreclosure Bus Tour.”  (I was thinking this was a way to get names for a seminar or maybe an investor looking for buyers.)

So being the student of marketing and processes I am, I called the number.  I was greeted by someone rather quickly.  Not bad I thought.  But then I was transferred where I had to wait for a few minutes.

Sound familiar?

Then, I was greeted by a realtor who forgot my name and started rambling on about how great their company is and it being covered by all the TV stations over the weekend.  Finally, she told me to send her an email to get more information.

“Me send you an email?  You should be begging for my email address!” I thought.

The one thing she did right was ask for my phone number.

Lot to digest?  Let’s review…

1. Bandit signs are one of the best (and least expensive) marketing methods for real estate investors and people selling houses.  Now I’m seeing a lot of them for credit repair and debt consolidation, so they must be working for them as well.  They don’t work for every business but for most they do.

The only challenge is that they are tedious to put out and the “sign police” and your competition end up taking them down.  But don’t be foolish to let that stop you.

2.  The people that actually do call are hot leads, so you better capture them.  Yesterday, the lady asked me to send her an email.  Yeah right, I’m driving around in my car and I’m going to remember to send you an email.  Foolish.

If you’re on my list, then you’ve heard from me every day.  Reality is, if you stopped by my website and I didn’t entice you with some free stuff, you wouldn’t have given me your name and email.  But that’s just the begriming!

It’s my job to follow up with you and build a relationship.  Obviously, this lady didn’t read the same books I did.  Truth be told, not many people do.  It’s the people that do who are most successful!

3.  AUTOMATE!  With technology being so cheap these days, it’s easy to get your own call center.  Lord knows I wouldn’t be taking these calls.  I would have driven these calls to a call center to collect their information: name, email, address, phone, how you heard about us.

All this stuff can be emailed to you and plugged into your database.

4.  This company has a huge hole in their pocket.  Normally, I would say good job just for getting out there and getting started but I’m sure this is some big dumb company.  Let’s just take a look at all the costs they just paid…and they still don’t have me as a lead…

- Bandit Sign printing
- Labor to put signs in ground
- Phone Call
- TIME!  This is their biggest expense!  Deciding on bandit signs, managing the labor, picking up the phone, conversation with me, lost time on a much bigger revenue producing activity!

Wow!  Next time you see a bandit sign, call it and see how they’re marketing.  Maybe you’ll actually find someone who’s got it figured out!

How’s That Working Out For You?

June 25, 2008

As you might know, I’m in a few mastermind groups.  To get guidance, build my business and hang with some pretty neat people.  And let me tell you, this isn’t “rah-rah” get together.

Well, in our last meeting, I was sharing with the group members a story that I tell when I do presentations or copywriting.  I use this story ALL the time and I think it’s pretty effective.  I went on a rant about this being a big part of being part of all my marketing and that it was a signature story.

Then someone from the far reaches of the room said, “How’s that working out for you?”

I was folded!  “How’s that working out for me?” I thought.  Man, I was pissed.

What could I say?  It wasn’t working out for me.  I wanted to do better but I just couldn’t let go of it.  It was programmed on my brain.  And I wanted to be RIGHT!

But it’s not about being RIGHT, it’s about getting results!

So next time you feel yourself being stubborn about something…

…or someone you’re around isn’t taking your advice, ask them

“How’s That Working Out For You?”

Then see what happens!

P.S.  Thanks for the emails yesterday on the “Thank You Letter” Post.  I will follow up later with a cool resource that was recommended by a fellow reader!

The Power of Personal Thank You Notes by Roger Salam

June 24, 2008

This strategy alone has made me at least $20,000 Dollars…and that’s just what I can remember of the top of my head.

I must have really learned this from a good friend and mentor, Roger Salam.  If you don’t know Roger, he was Tony Robbin’s right hand man who is now an excellent real estate teacher and runs The Winner’s Circle Mastermind!

When I had a job, I would receive handwritten “Thank You” postcards from Roger, thanking me for having him as a speaker.  I remember being blown away because we had plenty of speakers before Roger and NO cookies, thank you’s…nothing.

The fact that he took maybe 2 minutes (120 seconds) at most to write me a thank you was dumb founding especially due to his background.

Now, whenever I do business or meet someone that I want to continue a relationship with, I make sure to follow up.

Here’s what I’ve done in the past…

  • Edible Arrangements - Send the a fruit flower basket
  • Picture Frame - A lot of time, I take pictures and then send the picture in a frame.  Real Estate Guru Lou Brown told me that I look at him everyday…I’m on his shelf!
  • Thank You Note - A simple handwritten Thank You note
  • Buy A Book - It used to be that I would give my favorite books out as presents…now I give mine!

There are so many different things you can do…and to show you what’s possible, I’ve included for you…absolutely for FREE….Roger Salam’s The Power of Personal Thank You Notes: 35 Ways To Say Thank You And Stay In Touch!

Now get to writing!

Behind The Scenes With Patrick Martin & Professional Video Gamer, Elijah Martin

June 19, 2008

I almost forgot about these two incredibly cool videos that I shot last week after being interviewed on Tampa Bay Community Network (TBCN) on marketing.

Right after I was interviewed, Patrick Martin was sharing his story of how he turn cash into trash.  If you are a real estate investor or you are doing short sales, then pay close attention.  You could be leaving money on the table…

Now, while I was watching Patrick being interviewed, I saw his son, Elijah playing a video game.  And man was he into it.  Well come to find out, he is a profession video gamer and gets paid to play video games.  How exciting is that?  You really can do anything you want and the money will follow.  Follow your passion like, Elijah!

The Power of Intention

June 18, 2008

Yesterday, I spoke to a business networking group named BrainStorm Weekly, about the power of business credit.  After my talk, I took part in the brainstorming and realized something very powerful.

Isn’t it funny how we know to do certain things in life to get the most out of it?  Meditate, read, plan, exercise, follow-up,etc.  But for some reason we use the excuse that we don’t have time or that we are so overwhelmed that we simply forgot.

Well yesterday was one of those “duh” or “aha” moments.  We were discussing body language and posturing when my good friend Steven Klein, brought up intentions.  He said we should always state our intention before any situation we enter.  Tell the universe and perhaps the other person what we expect to get out of our interaction.

So if you are giving a speech, going into a meeting, or even driving your car, state what it is that you want to get by the end of it.  Sounds simple enough, huh?

It is.  The challenge is practicing!  This is like anything we do.  We have to build our muscle so that we are doing this before every situation without even thinking about it!

So this week (and from here on forward), I’ll be hitting the “Power of Intention Gym” and working out my muscles!

How about you?

“Keep That Left Up…”

June 17, 2008

A few months ago Missy and I started taking boxing down at the local gym. At first we were clueless and weren’t quite sure how we were going to hang…but we stayed with it. Slowly, we learned the routine and before we knew it we were helping others.

Then we kinda fell off the wagon…Sound familiar?

Life got in the way, we got busy, excuse after excuse.

Yesterday, the excuses stopped. We got back on!

And as you can imagine we had lost a bit of our form.

“Keep that left up!” I would hear as I got popped upside the head. It was a LONG workout yesterday.

Now, the reason I share this story with you this fine morning is that it has a few life and business lessons that we can all learn from.

1. When we first started it was a bit awkward. If you start something new, it might appear to your senses as weird or even wrong at first. But you have to train yourself and fight through it until you get comfortable.

One of the things I force myself to do is step out of the comfort zone! And I kinda feel weird or uncertain. But after awhile I’ll get the hang out it and have a new skill and you will too! Public speaking is a great example of this.

2. We fell off the wagon. This is very easy to do, especially with all the distraction nowadays.

They say it takes about 30 days of doing the same activity before you make it a routine. We definitely didn’t make it 30 days in a row when we first started. The bigger lesson is that even though we fell off the horse, we got back on.

If there is something that you want to do and you’ve stopped for some reason (working out, organizing your files, etc.), just do it! There’s no time like the present to get started again.

3. “Keep that left up…” - I noticed that when I got tired, my left would drop, protecting my face, and I’d get popped. It made me think that when I get tired at work sometimes I get lazy or make excuses.

For me that might be one less email or perhaps getting one out late. And sometimes when I drop my left, I just don’t get done what I need to at the end of the day.

Training, being consistent and developing a routine will get you back in shape. But before you can do all of this, I’ve got one question for you…

Are you dropping your left?
