This weekend I was flipping through a magazine that I normally wouldn’t read. Marketing junkies tend to do this and look for the ads rather than the content.
The magazine is called Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords and as you can guess from the title, it’s all about max-performing and racing your mustang.
While flipping through (starting back to front, of course) I quickly stopped at a direct response ad for male enhancement. The ad looked really decent, but what I really learned was “target market.”
I mean, can you get a better market to appeal to? Carheads and machismo guys - the magazine starts with the word MUSCLE. And if you’ve got the top of the line mustang, then you better pack a punch underneath the hood, right?
Marketing lesson: What magazines (or newspapers, websites, etc.) is your target market hanging out in?
