I bet if we found their pictures, we wouldn’t be too far off from this one back in 1978. Well minus the facial hair.

One of the great things about studying personal development is getting to envision yourself having reached your goal. To go even further (and to achieve results quicker), you should go out an experience those things in whatever fashion you can.

So if your goal is to be a millionaire (although not specific enough) you should go and enjoy a nice dinner and don’t even look at the price. If you want a certain car, go take a test drive.

What you are doing is training your mind and body what it is like to experience that car or that rock star lifestyle. You are also telling the universe what it is you want. And since we are goal seeking beings before you know it, you’ll manifest it.

So tonight, I’m going getting a limo…

…and taking my beautiful girlfriend Melissa to dinner and then picking up my friends and going out on a night on the town! I’m telling the universe that this will be my lifestyle and what it’s like to achieve the next level of success!

(It’s also the one month anniversary of my FREEDOM!)

People never…

- Read anything at first
- Believe anything at first
- Do anything at first

Go ahead, take a look at your copy. What have you done to overcome these three things in your prospect’s head.

Did you grab their attention (and keep it)?
Did you prove your case (hint: testimonials and facts)?
Did you compel them to take action with a strong offer (and make it so incredibly easy to act)?

If you haven’t YES to all of these questions, you better get back to the pad, and make these changes ASAP!

This weekend I was flipping through a magazine that I normally wouldn’t read. Marketing junkies tend to do this and look for the ads rather than the content.

The magazine is called Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords and as you can guess from the title, it’s all about max-performing and racing your mustang.

While flipping through (starting back to front, of course) I quickly stopped at a direct response ad for male enhancement. The ad looked really decent, but what I really learned was “target market.”

I mean, can you get a better market to appeal to? Carheads and machismo guys - the magazine starts with the word MUSCLE. And if you’ve got the top of the line mustang, then you better pack a punch underneath the hood, right?

Marketing lesson: What magazines (or newspapers, websites, etc.) is your target market hanging out in?

I belong to a mastermind group where one of the things we do is hold each other accountable. Some think of it as a contest, while others think of it as a way to motivate themselves to get stuff done.

Here’s the kicker, if I don’t complete my goals by the date (Sept. 11) then there is a pain. In this case, I have chosen to give up sweet tea (I swear this runs in my blood stream) and I will donate $1000 to a charity!

Think I’m motivated to get it done…YES!

As an entrepreneur there is a constant struggle with getting to do what you want to do versus doing what the boss tells us to do. I have talked about this “struggle” with Dr. John Nagy. He pointed me to a couple articles that you can find on his site.

What I got most was that I too need to create a structure. I can’t just say that I am going to work 10 hours today, or even wake up an hour late and say that I’m just going to work an hour later. So since the two areas that I am focusing on in my life right now are “Working the Mind” and Copywriting/Marketing, I am going to start my day with a structure.

Here goes…

1. Meditate - To get the mind clear!
2. Read Chapter of Motivational Books (Pysch-Cybernetices, Esther & Jerry Hicks, etc.) - To give me that jolt of good vibrations to start the day!
3. Rewrite in my own handwriting a PROVEN direct response ad - It has been said that this is one of the best ways to get good at copywriting…and FAST!
4. Read the late Gary Halbert newsletter - Always educate yourself…I do!
5. Post to blog - As an information marketer, we’ve always got to be creating content!

This is the structure I’ve committed to just for getting my day started. What’s your structure?
